Flunked!

One thing that's been annoying me recently are the prolific advertisements on the web for Mark Mathis and Ben Stein's upcoming movie, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. Needless to say, I haven't seen it, nor do I know if I want to see it, given that it is in essence a creationist propaganda film that one reviewer (to whom I haven't linked) said would "make Goebbels proud."

As a reader of science and atheist blogs, I've seen this one coming for a long time. I witnessed how the producers lied to scientists, such as Richard Dawkins and P.Z. Myers, to get interviews with them; how they plagiarized a Harvard educational video, The Inner Life of the Cell; and how they twisted the words of the scientists interviewed to suit their creationist view of the universe.

I can go on, but I shall instead refer you to Expelled Exposed, a site maintained by the National Center for Science Education which documents the disingenuous methods of Mathis and Stein, and also contains reviews by scientists and media critics who have seen the film. The NCSE will post an official rebuttal to the film on April 15th.

If Expelled indeed does come out on the 15th, I might see it myself in order to review it. However, I am uncertain that it will indeed be released, with pending litigation against it for copying wholesale The Inner Life of the Cell. Nonetheless, expect more from me on this topic in the weeks to come.

And if I see Ben Stein in those stupid shorts once more when I go to check my email, I will find the Yahoo advertising manager and throw him into the Spring of Drowned Octopus.
